    Hi E. B. Birders,

I drove up of Mount Diablo this morning to listen to Sage Sparrows singing. Before Blue Oak Picnic area I stopped at a pull out overlooking dense chaparral with southern exposure. Only one bird was singing while I was there, but I got to see at least four different birds, none close. (Listen for their high, thin, "tink"ing call notes.) One with a molty white and dark gray head was interesting to see (nothing like any field guide image!). I was able to digiscope a much sharper looking bird.

Also, there was a Cassin's Vireo at Blue Oak Picnic area, and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers were singing in so many locations I stopped counting after ten.
