    All;

    Am doing a Spring hawk-watch survey near Crockett. Last week there was a
    frontal passage and the average number of hawks PER HOUR for 6 hrs were as
    follows: Wed 109, Thurs 90.5, Thurs 49.8. For example, on Wednesday I
    counted 330 Red Tails in 100 minutes.

    Most common species are Red Tails and Harriers now. A few Red Shouldered
    Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, Kestrels, White Tailed Kites, and Ospreys.

    The site is located at the Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline. Park at the
    Crockett Ranch Staging Area and hike to the highest point on Sky Trail.
    Birds approach from the southeast and kite on the ridges to the northwest.
    Between noon and about 3 pm, look for birds passing at high altitude.

    There was a frontal passage on Monday. When the weather clears, there is
    likely to be another large flight of hawks for the two days afterwards. Was
    out there Monday as the rain was coming in and counted nearly 100 Red Tails
    and Harriers in the hour before the rain started.

    Will be out there Tuesday and Wednesday 10:30 to 3:30. If anyone wants to
    come along on Wednesday, please email or call on Tuesday (510) 769-0918. I
    definitely could use some help!
