I took a short bicycle birding trip this morning to Lake Merritt in search
of the TUFTED DUCK. A lovely male was in the same location that Bob Battagin
reported on Tuesday, Feb 13: in the water channel that connects Lake Merritt
with the Oakland Inner Harbor, in the section closest to the 880 freeway.

I also found a female REDHEAD in the duck feeding area at the Rotary Nature
Center. In general, Scaup numbers appear to be down quite a bit from earlier
winter highs. I didn't encounter any Barrow's Goldeneyes, Hooded Mergansers,
    or Barrow's x Hooded crosses.
