What had been no more than a few ethereal fluted notes two months ago,
developed into a shadowy figure which flew at my approach in the wilder
parts of the garden. Then, last week, I saw the thrush approach the
bird bath, undoubtedly drawn by the increased bird activity nearby from
a seed bowl I'd begun to keep filled. The thrush eventually became a
regular at the water and, two days ago, began to join the throng at the
seed bowl. It wasn't just investigating: I saw it grab seed and
swallow it. I always think of thrushes as insect and berry eaters. Is
    this seed eating usual?
