In a final attempt to get in some birding before the New Year, I biked along
MLK Shoreline at very low tide late this afternoon. Highlights included
Blue-winged Teal (male and female) in East Creek Slough among quite a few
Cinnamon Teal with a Black-shouldered Kite watching from a nearby tree. A
Ross' Goose was in the large grassy field north of Garretson Point Staging
with about twenty Canada Geese. In the slough at Garretson Point a Eurasian
Widgeon and male Blue-winged Teal were feeding. At Arrowhead Marsh another
Eurasian Widgeon was resting in the seasonal pond nearest the road to the
parking lot. And on the shoreline along Doolittle Drive many Black
Turnstones were getting in a final meal in before the lights went out.

    Happy New Year to everyone!
