We've also had a hermit thrust winter visitor in our Walnut Creek yard for
the past 2-3 winters. I saw it for the first time last week, which is later than
usual. It darts in an out of cover from a gravilia hedge, along with golden
crown sparrows and juncos. Also absent this winter are pine siskins at the
thistle sock, and spotted towhees among ground feeders.
We live in the south part of Walnut Creek off Rudgear Road.
