There was a Palm Warbler in Fairyland at Lake Merritt yesterday, and (per
John Luther on the Bird Box) again today. Directions are: enter Lake
Merritt Park at the Fairyland car entrance, near Harrison and Grand
Ave. Drive (or walk) past the kiosk, and continue a few hundred feet to
the Garden Center building on your left. Walk down the wide, straight
asphalt path across the street from the Garden Center, down to a tall,
columned formal "gazebo" (I'm sure there's a more correct word, but you
can't miss it). From that point look past a large oak, through the nearest
section of chain-link fence into Fairyland. There's an unkempt grassy
slope, where the warbler fed on the ground, sometimes flying up to the
fence, sometimes in the company of crowned sparrows. I took a couple of
    lo-quality snapshots yesterday, visible at
    http://services.housing.berkeley.edu/ITProject/gg/PaWa_Merritt.html
. Hoping that s/he sticks around until Sunday and the Oakland CBC.
