    They've swung the line of floats across the lake, to protect the 
    Embarcadero end for the winter's migrants - and lots of Ruddy Ducks and 
    the year's first scaup are taking advantage of it, along with the coots 
    and Ring-Billed Gulls. And when I walked past, two first-year Brown 
    Pelicans were down by the Embarcadero arbor, swimming about and 
    attempting to fish without leaving the water....
