    Greetings EBBirders,

This belated report is for Tuesday, 3 October 2006.

The species of note were 3 male PHAINOPEPLAS. In (and around) a riparian
patch including a large, ornamental shrub with small, dark berries. They
seemed to be feeding on these mistletoe sized berries.

The location was near Clayton Road, behind the Clayton City Library at the
north (away from the Library parking lot) end of the small foot bridge that
crosses Marsh Creek and begins the George (Candy) Cardinet Trail along the
Creek. Although these silky flycatchers flew off at our approach, a couple
returned to perch on photo-friendly snags beside the berry shrubs. These birds
were first noticed when I heard their familiar call. Later, when talking with
Mr.Cardinet (Junior?), a local home owner, he said Phainopeplas had nested
    nearby 4 years prior.

    Happy Birding,
    Phil Gordon
    Hayward, ALA Co.
