I heard a Mockingbird like song  today at 6:45AM  10/7 while running on the 
Strawberry Cyn (Berkeley) trail and was able to locate a California 
Thrasher, most probably. The light was bad to pick up any markings other 
than a light throat and a bill  that was smaller than I've seen. Perhaps 
immature's are smaller? The bird was near the crest of the trail where it 
starts a long flat portion.
