Took a quick walk around San Lorenzo city park this morning. I got pics of a gull that I'm certain is a California Gull in non-breeding plumage. The only difference between it & fully adult non-breeding plumage was a black tail w/ a narrow white terminal band & a yellow spot at the gonys. Is the yellow at the gonys a common occurence w/ this species as a "near adult"? (I can provide a link to photos if anyone's interested.)
