    Had a first-of-season Lincoln's sparrow in our backyard this  
    morning.  I was pretty sure of the ID after a quick initial look at  
    the bird skulking around, but just now was able to observe it for  
    several minutes at close range on an exposed tomato stake. It finally  
    left when a scrub jay swooped in.   Looking back through my inbox, I  
    noticed I posted the first sighting last year on Sept 8th!  I do hope  
    this species continues to be a regular.
    
    We live in Contra Costa County between Wildcat Canyon Regional Park  
    and Arlington Ave, just north of the El Cerrito border.
