There were still two Eurasian Collared Doves at Murrieta's Well yesterday morning, Saturday, August 26 at 8 a.m. They are now on the official California
State List as introduced birds, being well established in Kern County, and spreading north from there for several years, so are countable on your lists for California, Alameda County and Livermore.

Directions: From Hwy 580, take the S. Livermore exit, stay on S. Livermore when its name changes to Tesla, turn right at the traffic light at Mines Road,
turn right after 0.25 mi, at the Murrieta's Well sign, park and walk across the
bridge. Or, from Hwy 580, take the Vasco Road exit, go S. on Vasco to Tesla,
turn right, go W. on Tesla to Mines Road, turn left, then do as above.

The Eurasian Collared Doves may be identified by their call, "coo COO cuh".
by the narrow black collar on their nape, by their tail pattern, and several other differences from Mourning Doves. The field guides have good pictures.
