Earler this week I observed eight Burrowing Owls in a small field between
Orchard Supply Hardware and Walmart right along Lone Tree Way in Antioch.
This is a very busy thoroughfare and there is much traffic in and around the
parking lots there. One of the burrows is only about 75 feet from the OSH
parking lot. Approximately one-half mile west of this location, I observed
three more owls in a parking lot adjacent to Prewett Family Park. Again,
right along busy Lone Tree Way and directly across the street from Deer
Valley High School. So, eleven Burrowing Owls in about one-half mile amid
much congestion, noise, Friday night football games, etc. Go figure.

We have also observed at least five Burrowing Owls along Grant St. near the
southeast corner of Pioneer School in Brentwood.
