I noticed a number of greater scaup still hanging
around along the bay shore between Richmond & Albany
    on Monday. Among others spotted:
    Caspian tern
    Pacific loon
    gadwall
    avocet--lots!
ruddy duck--resplendent in their breeding plumage
    grebes--various
    long-billed curlew
black oystercatcher (I'm pretty sure; they were a ways
     off)
Canada geese with all sizes of goslings
    killdeer
    blackbirds--redwing and Brewers all over
    house finch
    various sparrows
    bushtit
    turkey vulture
At the Berkeley Meadow the blackbirds were ruthlessly
pursuing a redtail and then a white-tailed kite and
barn swallows were doing their acrobatics, along with
other swallows I couldn't quite ID. An Anna's hummer
gave me a good look and the mourning doves were
    numerous.
A great afternoon--except for the sunburn I got on my
bald pate--in the pattern of my bicycle helmet's
vents. I'm not too wild about having stripes.
    Cheers,
    Alan Howe
