There are some interesting birds along Patterson Pass Rd.
Road marker 6.04 going east has singing Rock Wren, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Orange Crown, Black Throated Grey and Yellow Rump Warblers.
All these are found in the willows on the creek side of the road.
The willow's have grown to the point where their crown's are level with the road.
On the rock out cropping side are many Lark Sparrows, Meadow Larks, Brewer Black Birds, a Shrike and Cow Birds.
At road marker 6.21 was another Ash-Throated Flycatcher, several Yellow Rump Warblers, and a Winter Wren at the very bottom of the creek.
The Winter Wren made several trips into a tangle of dead trees.
If you go to look for the Wren : use the pullout to park, look for a reflective road maker with a thin piece of cloth tied around it, at this point looking down into the creek you may see the Wren.
No Blue Grosbeaks seen or heard. ;(
Typically this is there arrival date April 16th.
I have an e mail telling me Blue Grosbeaks have begun passing through Fresno earlier this week.
One or two Blue Grosbeaks may be on Patterson Pass rd. , but not seen or heard yet.
It started rain as I was leaving.
    Have a happy holiday today.
