[EBB Sightings] GGAS bicycle trip-san leandro-hayward shoreline-sat apr 1

It was a rufous kind of day on the SF Bay Trail. Avocets in breeding
plumage, Marbled Godwits and Dowitchers, Am. Wigeons, N. Shovelers, RW
Blackbirds-59 species in all. Quite a few Black-bellied plovers. Firsts
on this trip: Allen?s HB  at trailhead in San Leandro and Common Moorhen
at pond at Heron?s Bay (between Llewelling and Grant St.) Trail damage
at Hayward Shoreline forced us to take city streets to return from W.
Winton Ave. to Grant St. to paved trail back to San Leandro. This gave
us a view of the pond at W. Winton which we ususally do not see when
biking the trail. As we returned to the trailhead at Grant St. we saw a
White-tailed kite. Hoping the rain does not spoil next Saturday's
bicycle trip on the Ironhorse Trail. Would appreciate any update on
Burrowing Owls near the Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station. kathy
