I've seen a few Band-tailed Pigeons from time to time in the
neighborhood, but this morning I noticed a big bird land in the tree
and begin eating berries, at the side of the house while I was making
coffee. After I saw what I could from the window with binoculars, I
saw the white collar. Then something spooked it (them) and the flock
that I couldn't see took off. They came back a little later and
landed in the neighbor's tree, again eating berries. They spooked
again, and this time, since I'd stepped out the door to try to take a
photo (not what spooked them), I could see that there were between
30-50 of them, so many that I could hear their wings flapping. What a sight!
