Between yesterday and today, the first Double-Crested Cormorant nests 
appeared at Lake Merritt, on the island farthest from the nature center. 
Once again, the lake is THE place to go if you want to see these birds 
living up to their name: the adults are putting on their white or black 
bunny ears for the season....
