    RE: Anna's nests

My wife and I are fortunate enough to have an Anna's nest about 1 foot
outside our kitchen window this winter/spring. It's on some vine
tendrils that run from the wooden fence across the narrow space on the
side of the house. We've enjoyed watching her line it with moss, bird
feathers, and seeds from cattails in our backyard. And of course, it
has been terrific having ringside seats to see the eggs and the
chicks, which are now looking rather grown up already, and the mother
feeding them regularly. I've managed to get a few close up digital
shots of the chicks in the last week, which is an added bonus too.
We're hoping she has a second clutch later so we can get some pics of
the chicks when they are much younger. (I forgot my digital camera
has a macro mode and let precious time go by before getting out there
    to take any shots.)

If I had a site to host the pics, I would provide a url ... will
happily email to any requesters just to share the joy. :-)
