    Hi all:

Our Palo Alto Adult School class got up early for some
birding by ear at Garretson Pt. (norhteast staging for
Arrowhead Marsh, off of Edgewater Rd) this morning. We
were rewarded (with a fabulous sunrise) by some buzzy
calls just south of the Garretson Pt. restrooms and
garden. Coming from the fenceline and a bushy tree
    (aren't I good w/trees?) I could only think Bewick's
Wren, but it was eluding me. When the bird showed
itself, I said: Just what I thought, Bewick's Wren.
Tate Snyder said: But it doesn't have a supercilium!
Well, right she was. The dang bird didn't. And the
reason the call was throwing me is that it was a House
Wren, not a Bewick's Wren. And when it disappeared, a
roommate started buzzing from the same original spot
and jumped up and gave us excellent looks. Let's make
    that two House Wrens.

    good birding,
