[EBB Sightings] Pombo thread ends - Administrator's Message

OK, we have to end the Pombo bash for a couple of reasons.  First, this
thread is hardly related enough to the stated goals of the list, which is
to report the birds that you see.  Please remember that 650 people invest
their valuable time in reading each message that you send.  This is the
sort of thing that one hoped would die a quick death but it hasn�t.

Secondly, this list is sponsored by the Mount Diablo Audubon Society whose
members value its non-profit, tax-deductible status.   We are not legally
able to directly advocate the election or defeat of any particular
politician, and by extension of our mission, the list cannot do that
either.  Sorry.

But luckily, although this list isn�t the right outlet for political
advocacy, or even for environmental advocacy, other outlets do exist.  For
those who want to commit themselves to conservation, one way is to join
local conservation organizations including any of the local Audubon
chapters.  Better yet, here is a plug to make a useful donation in the
remaining 2 days of the tax year -- visit the websites.  The Audubon
chapters have been working the wind turbine issue in particular for years
with their advocates� passions and their donors� money, and these efforts
are well reflected in the newsletters that you will receive.
