A Saturday morning walk at Lake Del Valle netted 62 species the best being
Merlin, Purple Finch and Townsends Warbler. Notable misses where
Red-shoulder Hawk and goldfinches. Near the bridge the Christmas berry is
attracting many birds. The lake is very low and due to the warm weather the
usual mud flats are not really mud so the shorebird numbers are low. I found
    (1)Lesser Yellowlegs, (8)Short-billed Dowichers, (2)Least Sandpiper and
    (1)Spotted Sandpiper.

Also Saturday a drive in the country produced a Ferruginous Hawk on Manning
    Rd in Contra Costa County.

    Good birding.
