Returned to Alameda Creek & birded the south side from Mowry to a couple hundred yards down from the island. Most of the Common Mergansers had left & I saw no immature/fledgling. There were several pair of Ring-necked Ducks, Gadwalls, Buffleheads & Ruddy Ducks. I also photographed a pr. of Common Goldeneye & a female Barrow's Goldeneye (didn't see the male). In one photo of Gadwall I captured an eclipse male, a breeding male & a female. There were at least 15 Northern Mockingbirds in the trees between Alameda Creek & the gravel pit on the north side of Shinn St. singing & calling out and flying from tree to tree as I passed.
On the way back to my truck I saw the Belted Kingfisher I'd been hearing on the north side of the creek fly to the south side just behind me. Near Mowry, in the pond above the inflatable dam, were 13 Lesser Canadian Geese.
