[EBB Sightings] Breeding Already

    At Lake Merritt in Oakland this weekend, I found two incidents of early breeding:
   
  1.  A male House Sparrow was feeding babies in one of the birdhouses hanging near the Nature Center (Bellevue & Perkins).  The bird was in basic plumage, not breeding plumage.
   
  2. A pair of Chestnut-backed Chickadees were remodeling a woodpecker hole by bringing wood chips from inside the hole and dropping them outside.
