    Hello E.B. Birders,

This morning at Valle Vista Staging Area in Moraga 13
other birders and I had long scope looks at a male
RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER. This bird was seen about 10:30
am, then on our way back at about 11:45 am, both times
    working the same branch.

    >From the parking lot head south and take the trail to
the left that leads into the pines. From the gateless
fence at the edge of the pines, walk about 350 ft.,
then look up. You will notice 2 pines with lots of
dying needles. Stand on the trail between these 2
pines' trunks and look to the left of the trail
(north/northwest). In front of the Eucalyptus grove
there is a small green-leaved tree we think is a
cottenwood. One of its branches (about 4" diameter)
leans diagonally to the right, and the RB Sapsucker
was on this branch working the small sapsucker holes.

We also saw 3 Wilson's Snipe at the north end of the
Upper San Leandro Reservoir, Wood Ducks, and
    Townsend's Warblers.

    All the Best Birding,
