John Maurer's attachment was one of those silly 'VCF' things that some
programs (Microsoft Outlook?) insist on attaching to e-mail messages. It's
essentially the same as a signature at the end of a message, but it comes
as an attachment, which means you have to check it with Quickview or scan
with your anti-virus program before opening it to find that it contains
absolutely nothing of interest. I'm not sure what causes these things to
exist, but if it's an option, those who post to e-mail lists should uncheck it.
