Can anyone help me with an indentification? I'm
stumped with the sparrow shown in the first two
pictures of this slide show of pictures from Hayward
    Regional Shoreline.

I keep trying to make it fit grasshopper sparrow, or
female house sparrow, or female blue grosbeak... but
    nothing quite fits.

Last weekend, I found these sparrows in the sage brush
along the flood control channel between the Winton Ave
parking lot and Hayward's landing. The rest of the
pictures are of the shorebirds and raptors in the
marshes north of Winton Ave. (aka "Frank's Dump").
    Sightings included:
    WhiteTailedKite
    Nor. Harrier
    Snowy and Great Egret
    Marbled Godwit (100+)
    American Avocets (100+)
    Black-bellied plover (100+)
    Willet (100+)
    Long-billed curlew
    Savannah Sparrow
    Chestnut-backed Chickadee
    Bushtit
    Mallard
    Barn Swallow
    Black Phoebe
    Forster's Tern
    Dbl Crested Cormorant
    Western Sandpiper
    Sanderling

    Thanks for your help -

P.S. It's not exactly Alameda county, but you are
welcome to checkout my pictures from my trip to
Florida in August. Yes, you can see birds there
    off-season.
