I continue to see great horned owls in the spot I mentioned last week
(Wildcat Canyon, near the Pearl Reservoir water tank, but about 1000
yards southeasterly, at the edge of the privately-owned tree plantation
    watershed area on the ridgeline.

I believe I have seen three different owls now. One had a white patch
on his chest, while the other two did not. I believe this is probably a
family. They are harassed EVERY evening by Stellars Jays, who divebomb
and squawk at them, presumably until the jays go off to sleep.

I have provided directions in previous post. As I said in initial post,
listen for the jays. If they are close to the trees edge, you will
likely see the owls. At times, I have heard them hooting but not seen
them, but that was only once out of last six visits. I have seen at
least a glimpse or a very long view each time besides then. Last
evening, I watched for about 15 minutes as an owl was constantly pecked
and screeched at by the Jay. The owl was...annoyed.... to say the least
but he held his spot in the pine tree. Interestingly, I have yet to see
an owl alight in a eucalyptus there. The plantation is almost entirely
pine or eucalpytus. The owls land on branches where they can sweep down
    so it makes viewing easier.
