    Hi all,
I'm new to East Bay birding (I started in LA and now I'm a sophomore at
Cal). Today was my first visit to MLK and it turned out to be absolutely
amazing. After Bob Powers and I saw the Black Tern reported earlier in the
day, I walked out onto the boardwalk and saw a Clapper Rail wading in open
water shortly after sunset! It was only a few feet away from three
Long-billed Dowitchers and it almost made them look dimunitive in
comparison. Other birds seen included about two dozen Greater Scaup, at
least two pairs of Gadwalls, Mallards, Canada Geese, and numerous Avocets
with young, Pintail, Stilts, and singing Song and Savannah Sparrows.
