Wednesday afternoon I spotted, 5 female and 2 male Buffleheads on
Jewel Lake in Tilden Park, Berkeley. Hiking the wildcat Creek and
Upper Packrat Trail loop, highlights included 3 Wilson's Warblers, 4
    Orange-crowned Warblers and a Brown Creeper. A Pacific-slope
Flycatcher was singing his typical song perched on a branch and I
heard a couple of Black-headed Grosbeaks. Several thousand honey bees
were swarming in a Coast Live Oak 100 feet above the north end of the
Packrat Trail making a load racket but posing no danger to hikers.
