This morning I led a class trip to Sunol Regional Wilderness:

    - Driving south on the 680 Frwy towards the park, ~1.5 miles north of =
the Bernal Ave exit, a Great Blue Heron flew across the highway with a =
large stick in it's beak. Does anyone know of a nesting spot in =
    Pleasanton?

    - We did not see the Harris's Sparrow.

    - When we started out, all three vireos sang simultaneously as we walked =
past the visitor's center towards the bridge.

    - We did see and hear a very persistently singing Black-throated Gray =
Warbler. Does anyone know if Black-throated Grays sing on migration? =20

    - We saw at least 14 Western Tanagers.

    - Two Red-shouldered Hawks nestlings (actually just the tops of their =
heads) are visible from the bridge near the visitor's center.
