question, here's what you can do: go to
http://birding.about.com/library/weekly/aa011601b.htm
where you will find letter A of the 4-letter
abbreviations. copy the info into a spreadsheet, then
one by one, get the rest (14 in all) of the
abbreviations and copy them. i got this by searching
on bird banding abbreviations in google. for some help
on the method by which the  abbreviations were
devised, try
