Today I had about 4 hours so I took a ride out Patterson Pass Rd in =
Livermore. At about 3 miles (from intersection of Patterson Pass and =
Greenville Rd. there was a lively tree on the right with Hooded Oriole, =
Western Tanager and Western Kingbirds. And sure enough - at mile marker =
6.21 there was a male Blue Grosbeak calling from a tree on the right =
side of the road. Then it flew across the road and up into the grass =
and then back down to the fence.=20

On down the road I pulled over as I saw some other birders and there was =
a large parking area. We saw Yellow Warbler, Orange-crowned and =
Wilson's Warbler there. I want to apologize to the three men I met there =
as I thought the Cassin's Kingbird nest was on Patterson Pass Road and =
when I reread the e-mail I realized it is on Corral Hollow Road. ( I =
    hope you figured it out).

After not finding any nest I rereading the e-mail, I proceeded to 580 =
and then south to Corral Hollow Road.=20
About 2 miles down the road I noticed a large bird on a telephone wire =
post and of course assumed it was a Red-tail. However, it just got =
bigger and bigger and it turned out to be a Golden Eagle. It sat =
patiently while I stopped and had a good look out my car window and then =
flew (of course I didn't have my camera).

Having never been on that road I was quite amazed at the huge facility =
for dirt biking at CSVRA. Shortly thereafter is the Alameda/San Joaquin =
county line and I tried in vain to find a nest being built on a power =
tower or pole. I even went down the road and came back so I could look =
from a different angle. Then I just pulled over, got out and watched. =
Sure enough a pair of Cassin's Kingbirds flew around and one landed on =
the telephone wire and then followed the other up to the grass on the =
upper side of the road. They never went near a pole so I still don't =
    know where they are nesting.

I drove back to Livermore via Corral Hollow which connects with Tesla. =
There were Magpies along this area. It is a really nice drive and =
probably much better on a week day. Next time I will find Kiln Canyon =
also, as I didn't see a sign, but that is what happens when you are =
    focused on looking for birds.

    Good birding,
