[EBB Sightings] Good Birding by Car

Another option (which I just got back from), is to continue on 580 east,  
join up with I-5 south and bird the Del Puerto Canyon area from the Patterson  
exit to Mines Rd in Livermore. I go to the canyon for aquatic entomology, but  
always take my binoculars. Today I was treated to a couple of male Phainopepla, 
 a couple Golden Eagles, a pair of Hooded Orioles, male Bullocks  Oriole, 
Roadrunners, Kingbirds and Canyon Wrens, all from the car.  Because when I get 
out of the car, I'm looking down. For bugs. 
There could be more pullouts, but there were no cars trying to pass me, so  I 
was able to bird in the middle of the road most times. That may not be  the 
case on weekends though.
Incidentally, the wild flower display on the Mines Road side of this loop  
(not long after you get off of Del Puerto Canyon, is the most awesome one I have 
 seen! Ever!!! And I just got back from the  desert.
