A visit to Hayward Shoreline this morning by the Albany Adult School, Bird
Migration Class produced great views of many species; Together and in close
proximity. So it was a fine morning.

Noteworthy was a Lesser Yellowlegs at the visitor's center, and a good
number of Red Knot: First 3, then 7, then 20 and finally a flock of 38. Most
were in transition plumage, a few nearly in alternate plumage. I don't know
if these were seperate groups or if, say , the 20 became part of the 38.

The Turnstones seem to have completely moulted. They're gorgeous and gave us
close up views with the two species side by side.

Westerns, Dunlin and Dowitchers are looking spiffy too, and Forster's Terns
are making a goodly racket in their display flights.
