    EastBayBirders,

Skip and I were surprised to see a LARK SPARROW during our west-side
San Ramon dog-and-bird-walk this morning. In hundreds of neighborhood
walks this was our first Lark Sparrow and a lifer for Skip. Also a bit
out of place was a fly-over GREAT BLUE HERON.

Though we've had very few in the neighborhood lately, Skip and I saw
two large flocks of PINE SISKINS yesterday afternoon in nearby Bishop
Ranch Regional Preserve. We were at BRRP checking to see if the
Grasshopper Sparrows we found along Red Tail Hawk Trail last May 1 had
returned. Not yet. Along that trail we flushed a single HORNED LARK.
Skip pretended not to be intimidated by the big scary cows we passed
along the way, but his quickened pace and glance back with furrowed
    brow gave him away.
