Sorry for the late posting, but I thought I'd mention that I heard a
Pacific-slope Flycatcher calling in Hinkel Park in northeast Berkeley Sunday
morning while looking for Cooper's Hawks for the GGRO East Bay nest study
(no luck, unfortunately). I believe that this is pretty early for
Pac-slopes; has anyone else heard or seen any yet?

Also of interest was a Spotted Towhee in the yard of 638 Santa Barbara Ave.
My nest search area in general (roughly between Arlington Ave and Grizzly
Peak Blvd. north of Marin) has pretty interesting bird diversity for an
urban neighborhood. Lots of Pine Siskins, Scrub and Stellar's Jays, as well
as a few Downy and Nuttall's Woodpeckers. I also heard a Song Sparrow
singing in Bolte Park. It'll be interesting to see what occurs there through
    the spring and summer.
