I arrived at Sunol Regional Wilderness at about 8:00 this morning, just as a storm passed through and the sun began to come out. A few minutes after I settled into position to view the path behind the port-o-potties, the Harris's Sparrow, (with California Quail, and Golden-crowned Sparrows) came out into the parking area and began foraging around my car. They did eventually move to the path in back.
I was lucky to have terrific looks for 15 minutes, because at 8:15 the port-o-potty pump-out truck pulled up. The birds went into hiding and I quickly headed off to work.
