Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, the drake Tufted Duck continued in the
main lagoon at Berkeley Aquatic Park near the playground structure, and
the Hooded Merganser pair continued in the middle pond. Despite the
proximity of Berkeley Aquatic Park to the train tracks, I have been
unable to spot either from the train. (I did manage a glimpse of the
Hooded Merganser last year when the train happened to slow down at just
    the right spot.)

On a separate note, I haven't seen the Long-tailed Duck in Martinez
from the train this week and the scoter flock with which it was
associating seems to have moved on as well. The goldeneye flock is down
to about thirty birds hanging out further east underneath the bridge.
There are still 3-4 drake Barrow's and a similar number of drake
Commons. Given the height of the bridge and the speed of the train, the
    rest are simply goldeneyes.

    Good birding,
    Kirk Swenson
