    Hi, all.
I was down by the restoration project next to
University & Cesar Chavez Park in Berkeley Sunday
afternoon and spotted a raptor I couldn't quite ID. It
was late and the light was low and, of course, the
bird flew before I was anywhere near sure what it was.
It was quite dark and my first guess is that it was
    a dark-morph rough-legged hawk. I was struck by the
quite dark smudgy/swirly wings as it perched and think
there were darker areas on the face, near the eyes.
(Given the low light, though, I suppose there's a
chance it was a dark juvenile ferruginous or, more
remotely, a dark juv red-tail.) Has anyone else seen
    this bird recently?
In the shallow ponds of the restoration project I
spotted one mail cinnamon teal, some American wideons,
buffleheads and others of the duck persuasion, along
with a number of mew gulls. There were other flying
objects, but it was getting too dark to pursue and ID
    them.
Thanks for any info on the hawk.
    Cheers,
    Alan Howe
