    Hi Everyone,

Please excuse the slightly late posting. A group of four birders,
determined to enjoy what turned out to be a largely rain-free morning,
made their own field trip at Coyote Hills, having showed up to find that
the scheduled GGA trip had been canceled. Among the sightings were
several White-tailed Kites and a Loggerhead Shrike. We found a Eurasian
Widgeon in the southern arm of the north marsh among the American
Widgeons, Green-winged Teals, and Northern Pintails.

I lingered after the group dispersed around noon and decided to have my
lunch at the Quarry staging area, where a Red-tailed Hawk set up a
ground squirrel watch on the hill to the north, then successfully
grabbed one, which it carried off to a nearby tree.
