Yesterday afternoon I hiked my usual route through the area between =
Veterans Park and Del Valle dam in Livermore. Of note was a Peregrine =
Falcon flyby, Pine Siskin and White-throated Sparrow. The =
White-throated Sparrow was with a flock of Golden-crowned Sparrows and =
might be the same bird reported by Art Edwards. This location was about =
.5 miles upstream from the Veterans Park location reported by Art. This =
bird was a white-striped adult clearly showing the yellow lores. I found =
about 8 Pine Siskin's feeding on the hanging Sycamore seed heads. =20

A note about habitat in the riparian in this area. Over the last five =
years I seen a huge increase in the number of Palm trees growing along =
the creek. Should this infestation of palms be dealt with by EBRP and / =
or LARPD? I don't know what effect the palms will have on the riparian =
but I don't believe it will be for the better.
    Good birding.
