This morning at 7:50 a.m., 17 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were roosting in
West Stege Marsh, which is the restored marsh on the north side of the Bay
Trail, immediately northeast of the bridge over Meeker Slough in Richmond
(south of the UC Berkeley Richmond Field Station). Several were also seen
    flying over the area.

Also, and I apologize for not posting this earlier, Dan Sidle and I saw the
two female LONG-TAILED DUCKS off the north side of Berkeley Pier last Sunday
(January 16) at 9:49 a.m. Both birds were spotted only 100 feet north of the
pier, between the 19th and 20th lightposts (counting from the east end of
the pier). We also looked for the Lake Merritt Tufted Duck and Arrowhead
Marsh Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow, but struck out on both. Has anyone seen
either of these birds in the last week?
