    Greetings EBB'ers,
    
    This is a preliminary report of special findings by about 80 participants 
    last Sunday.  Our CBC Circle centers at Nimitz & Whipple.  At this point it looks 
    like a Species Total reached 168, even with the loss of some great birders 
    from last year (Total 173) who had to return to their coincidental (home base) 
    counts this year.

    Pelagic Cormorant, 2; San Mateo Bridge Tower
    Greater White-fronted Goose; Don Castro RP
    Tundra Swan, 1 (1st in many years); Eden Landing Ecological Reserve (open in 
    '06)
    Hooded Merganser; Alameda Creek Channel, Decoto District, Union City
    Ferruginous Hawk, 2; Fairview Ridge above Hayward
    Black Oystercatcher, 2; Hayward's Landing
    Surfbird, 17; Frank's Dump West, Hayward Reg. Shoreline
    Northern Pygmy Owl; Palomares Road/Canyon
    Short-eared Owl; Alvarado Creek (Old Alameda Ck.) marsh (in part; see TuSw 
    above)
    White throated Swift, large numbers; Masonic Home, Mission Blvd., Union City
    Salasphorus sp. Hummingbird, 2; at feeders nr. Alameda Ck. crossing of Hwy 
    880 
        East side.
    Acorn Woodpecker, 2; mouth of Niles Canyon, up draw on North side
    Barn Swallow  (Loc. details not yet seen)
    White-throated Sparrow 1 (two other reports not yet filed); Ardenwood 
    Historic RP
    Tricolored Blackbird, 1; Coyote Hills South (lowest number of Threatened 
    Species!)
    Great-tailed Grackle, 5; end of Veasy St., Union City (now breeding in 
    Hayward RP     marshes). New (241 all-time Total species) for CAHF CBC. 
    
    SEEN:  NOT RECORDED
    * Greater Flamingo (recent, "bright" escapee); Bayshore, West of S. Coyote

    Hammond's Flycatcher (found just before count week)
