    Jim,

I often see Green Herons at Lake
    Temescal, both juvenile and adult.
I assume they are resident and
breeders there. In the past couple
of months I've observed both the
juvenile and an adult, mostly in
the location you saw yours and in
the lake adjacent to the mouth of
    the inlet stream.

    Good birding,

Yesterday I saw what looked like a
    first year juvenile Green Heron
where the creek comes into Lake
Temescal. Are they common in this
area? It was very near a
    Black-crowned Night Heron and was
    significantly smaller so I didn't
think it could be a Night Heron or
an American Bittern. It also had
yellow eyes, a yellow strip between
the eyes and bill, yellowish legs,
a sharp bill, heavy brown & white
striping on the throat and breast
and a dark gray/black crown and
    back.
