A friend in Rockridge,  not on this list, just phoned to say a BARN OWL had
been sitting on her neighbor's roof for the last hour.

Janet lives in Rockridge near Ayala and Martin Sts., near the #24 ramp.  She
says there are lots of rats around recently so maybe reason for Owl.

How common is that species in the East Bay?  I live in San Francisco where
it seems that it is only in the last year that Barn Owl has been reported.
Has there been a population explosion of them in Bay Area?
