[EBB Sightings] Birding in Solano County

We had an amazing day of birding on Saturday..We started with the intent of
catching a sight of yellow headed blackbirds reported by someone recently
along Sherman Island levee road..it was a beautiful day and as we drove
along the levee we saw the following:

1. Six Black Tailed Kites
2. Red Tail
3. Kestrel
4. Black Phoebee
5. Western Meadowlark
6. Northern Shrike (yes not the Loggerhead)
7. House Finches
8. Red winged Blackbirds (Alas no Yellow headed..so the quest continues)


We then went over to Lake Solano county park driving back on 80 and then on
to Pleasant Valley Road..on the way we saw the following:

1. Ring Necked Pheasant
2. 40 Turkeys
3. Acorn Woodpeckers

At Lake Solano county park we saw :

1. Pileated Woodpecker
2. Peregrine Falcon
3. Great Blue Heron
4. Little Green Heron
5. Great Eggret
6. Buffleheads
7. White Crowned sparrows
8. Western Grebe


All in all a wonderful day of birding..We will no doubt continue our quest
for the yellow headed blackbird.
