    EastBayBirders,

At the Dublin end of the Iron Horse Trail behind the public library and
almost under the the 580/680 interchange we found a close-knit flock of 7
COMMON MERGANSERS. Along a short spur trail 0.8 mile to the north, near an
old wooden trestle, we added several species to our Iron Horse (and spur)
Trail list including LINCOLN'S SPARROW, RING-NECKED PHEASANT (male),
CACKLING GOOSE (injured wing), and HOODED MERGANSER (breeding plumage male).
Also along the surprisingly birdy spur trail were a pair of DOWNY
    WOODPECKERS, a NUTTALL'S WOODPECKER, several RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, a
playful pair of AMERICAN KESTRELS, a NORTHERN FLICKER, and a couple dozen
hyperactive YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. Back on the main trail we had several
BELTED KINGFISHERS, a pair of WHITE-TAILED KITES, two GREEN HERONS, and a
    very shy juvenile BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON.
