A couple of Cedar Waxwings were feasting on the neighbor's
lush pyracantha bush, along with the robins, here in
El Sobrante. This is only the third time I've noted Waxwings
around my area. I am above Appian Way, and can see the
San Pablo Dam from my kitchen window.

My yard has had Oregon Juncos for at least a month now. They
have always seemed to be so common around here that I never
took much note of their comings and goings. Others on the
list seem to have very different viewings, clearly!

There are a pair of Red Breasted Nuthatches that seem to be
local residents. Previously I've seen them nest in the dead
stub of a Monterey Pine branch in the back yard. This seems
like another case of a bird I've taken for granted, where
others treat them as, well, a treat.

I'm not sure how many folks date their sightings--at this
point I have not, but am thinking I will begin to.
